"Zhangjiang Forum" Sci-Tech Innovation Salon Was Launched to Boost the Development of the Core Area of the International Science and Technology Innovation Center

On April 17, the launch ceremony of the "Zhangjiang Forum" Sci-Tech Innovation Salon was held at the Zhangjiang Science Hall. The initiative aims to create an integrated platform that brings together government, enterprises, research institutions, and investors to support the development of the core area of the Shanghai International Science and Technology Innovation Center. Numerous leaders attended and launched the event, including Li Zheng, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and secretary of the CPC Pudong New Area Committee, Ding Jian, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chairman of the Pudong New Area Science and Technology Association, and Wang Hong, member of the CPC Committee and Deputy General Manager of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, witnessing the signing of the first batch of units of the strategic cooperation alliance.

Over the past five years, Pudong has actively responded to the directives of President Xi Jinping, making every effort to build the core area of Shanghai International Science and Technology Innovation Center and foster an innovative ecosystem. This "Zhangjiang Forum" Sci-Tech Innovation Salon will further promote Zhangjiang's construction into an international first-class science city and further promote the integration of science and technology innovation and industry.

The Salon takes serving the national strategy as its mission, operating through institutionalization, scene-based, and international approaches while focusing on elements of production, education, research, application, finance, and talent. The Salon adopts a structure of "one theme and one track per month." The topics focus on three leading industries such as integrated circuits, with 9 cutting-edge themes such as brain-machine interfaces set throughout the year. Guest selection will be based on a principle of "rooted in Zhangjiang, radiating nationwide, and looking globally." Events will be held in science and technology innovation landmarks, featuring a mix of in-person lectures, roadshows, and online outreach.

At the event, 12 units, including the National and Local Co-built Embodied Artificial Intelligence Robotics Innovation Center, became the first members of the strategic cooperation alliance. The Zhangjiang Science City Construction Management Office issued the document Zhangjiang Science City Ecological Leading Action. In the future, Zhangjiang will enhance the scientific and technological innovation exchanges and regional quality through initiatives like an open reception area and forum hosting.

The first sci-tech innovation salon featured the theme, Why Choose Zhangjiang – Accelerating the Move Towards a Globally Influential Science and Technology Innovation Center. Ding Jian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, pointed out that Zhangjiang Pharma Valley has achieved a transition from a follower to a leader. Jiang Lei, chief scientist of the Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, introduced the country's first open-source physical training ground for heterogeneous humanoid robots. Dong Ziyong, deputy president of China Construction Bank Shanghai Branch, shared insights on a new model of technological innovation in financial services. Pan Lu, senior vice president of Zai Lab, discussed the company's innovative achievements rooted in Zhangjiang. Jiang Ge, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of ShanghaiTech University, introduced the university's scientific research layout and achievements. During the roundtable dialogue, guests discussed Zhangjiang's path to achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance around keywords such as hard-core breakthroughs.
