Shanghai Stock Exchange and Astana International Exchange Signed Memorandum of Understanding
On June 30, 2025, Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Astana International Exchange (AIX) of Kazakhstan to further strengthen business cooperation and communication between the two capital markets.
Kazakhstan was where the Silk Road Economic Belt was first proposed. In 2017, the SSE entered into a cooperation agreement with Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and acquired a stake in the AIX. Since then, AIX has established comprehensive infrastructure and a robust framework of market rules, and made progress in attracting both issuers and investors. The signing of this MOU will boost communication and cooperation between the two exchanges in areas such as information exchange, market promotion, and product development. It will also reinforce the foundation for China-Kazakhstan capital market cooperation and serving the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Moving forward, under the coordinated oversight of China Securities Regulatory Commission, the SSE will continue strengthening communication and cooperation with the AIX and Kazakhstan’s capital market, as part of its ongoing strategy to broaden communication with international markets and steadily advance diverse cooperation with overseas exchanges, contributing to the high-level opening-up of the capital markets.
