SSE Holds Series Roadshow Events to Southeast Asian Market to Attract Long-term Foreign Capital

To strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding with Southeast Asian capital markets and attract more long-term foreign capital, Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) launched a roadshow series under the theme "Focus on SSE: Roadshows to Southeast Asian Market" since May. These roadshows are collaborated with local stock exchanges and intermediaries in Southeast Asia through both online and face-to-face participation.

On May 8th, the SSE held the first roadshow towards the Indonesian market. The SSE shared an overview of the ETF market both in China and globally, SSE’s ETF and derivatives market developments and major foreign access to the SSE market. Additionally, the SSE had in-depth discussions with representatives from the Indonesian market on the SSE’s approach to growing its ETF market and improving ETF liquidity, as well as the investment strategies of domestic ETFs. Over 200 representatives from varied institutions including Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Indonesia Clearing and Guarantee Corporation (IDClear), Indonesia Central Securities Depository (KSEI),  Indonesian Capital market Association and members of the exchange attended the event.

The second event took place on May 15th and was attended by approximately 180 overseas guests online from local exchanges, investment institutions, and intermediaries in Southeast Asia. The SSE gave an overview of its overall market, highlights of SSE-listed companies in their 2024 performance and ETF market developments. The roadshow enhanced foreign investors’ awareness of the SSE’s major boards, key products and access channels, helping investors in Southeast Asia better take on the opportunities of investing in China’s capital markets. Additionally, 3 companies listed on the SSE, including China Mobile, China Unicom and Kingsoft Office, engaged with Southeast Asian investors to highlight the value of investing in SSE-listed companies and attract more Southeast Asian capital into China. More events are coming up in the Southeast Asia roadshow series featuring the SSE STAR Market, bond market and derivatives market for local investors.

Since the beginning of this year, the SSE has been improving its arrangements of serving international investors and stepping up promotion efforts globally. A number of events were hosted by the SSE, including "Focus on SSE: Index-based Investing in China", "Focus on SSE: STAR Market and QFII Scheme", and "Discover Value: International Investors Meet up with SSE-listed Companies". These events are centered around high-quality growth of index-based investing, developments and advantages of the SSE STAR Market, QFII policies, etc. Through policy briefings and feedback collection, the SSE aims to facilitate in-depth exchanges between international investors and SSE-listed companies and further bolster investor confidence.

Amidst a complex and ever-changing external environment, China remains steadfast in pursuing high-quality economic growth, formulating more stable and predictable macro policies, and unwaveringly advancing high-standard opening-up. Moving forward, the SSE will continue to deliver excellent services to international investors, share China's stories with the world, showcase the country's economic potential and resilience, reinforce its commitment to openness, and further expand the depth and breadth of foreign investment in the SSE market.
