The SSE Releases Notice on New Trading Day of the Hong Kong Stock Connect to Fully Ensure the Steady Optimization of Trading Calendar of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect

In order to implement the plan of optimizing the trading calendar of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect in the Joint Announcement issued by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong on August 12, 2022, the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) today officially issued the Notice on Matters Related to New Trading Day of Hong Kong Stock Connect (hereinafter referred to as the Notice).

The Notice mainly stipulates the definition of the new trading day of the Hong Kong Stock Connect, trades-related business arrangements, and risk control measures, explicitly requiring members and other institutions using trading units to make advance arrangements for the settlement of funds in accordance with the provisions. For individual investors participating in the trading of Hong Kong Stock Connect, in addition to the increased trading days, they are not affected in terms of fund settlement and so on.

The optimized trading calendar of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect opened all Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect trades when two markets of the Mainland and Hong Kong were both on trading days, which increased the number of trading days and investment opportunities, improved the trading efficiency of Hong Kong Stock Connect and provided domestic and foreign investors with easier access to invest in both markets through the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect.

The SSE has conducted preparatory work by collaborating closely with all related parties and organizing market participants to carry out technical tests. Next, the SSE will, in accordance with the unified deployment of the CSRC, work with all related parties to closely monitor the operation of the business and fully ensure the steady optimization of the trading calendar of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect. It will also continue to promote the further optimization and improvement of the Stock Connect mechanism and advance high-level two-way opening up of the capital market.
