SSE Partners with 6 Chinese Mainland WFE Members in Ringing the Bell for Financial Literacy during the World Investor Week 2021
The Shanghai Stock Exchange (the SSE), stroke the gong together with six other WFE members in the Chinese Mainland, China Securities Investor Services Center, and China Securities Investor Protection Fund, to raise public awareness of investor education and protection during the World Investor Week 2021. This year is the first time that 7 Chinese Mainland market infrastructure collectively held a bell ringing ceremony in response to the global initiative “Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy” supported by the IOSCO and the WFE.
The ceremony was held in the listing hall of the SSE. Mr. CAI Jianchun, President of the SSE; Mr. WANG Fenghai, CEO of Shanghai Futures Exchange; Mr. LU Dongsheng, President of Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange; Mr. XI Zhiyong, CEO of Dalian Commodity Exchange; Mr. HUO Ruirong, CEO of China Financial Futures Exchange; Mr. KONG Qingwen, General Manager of China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation; and Mr. Guo Wenying, Chairman of China Securities Investor Services Center attended the event on-site, while Mr. SUI Qiang, CEO of National Equities Exchange and Quotations and Ms. ZHANG Xiaowei, General Manager of China Securities Investor Protection Fund attended virtually. WFE Chairman Mr. Edward T. Tilly sent a congratulatory message via video. WFE CEO Ms. Nandini Sukumar also joined the event virtually.
The SSE has participated in the “Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy” initiative since 2019. As the market with the largest group of retail investors, the SSE has always attached great importance to investor education and protection. In the future, the SSE will join hands with Chinese Mainland peers to step up efforts to raise public awareness of investor education and promote financial literacy at home and abroad, thus increasing the quality, efficiency, fairness, sustainability, as well as resilience of the market.
