SSE Launched "World Investor Week 2020" Activities
In October 2020, under the guidance of the Investor Protection Bureau of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) launched a series of "World Investor Week 2020" activities. Initiated by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the "World Investor Week" is global campaign to raise awareness of all market participants about the importance of investor education and protection. Last night, a light display featuring the "World Investor Week 2020" was staged next to the Huangpu River.
2020 is a year of decisive victory for China’s three tough battles, a year of deepening reforms in the capital market, and the first year of implementation of the new Securities Law. The theme of this year's series of activities is "Supporting Investors, Acting Together - Studying and Implementing the New Securities Law to Protect the Legal Rights and Interests of Investors". During the activities, the SSE organized a variety of events such as the Securities Law knowledge quiz and the quality tour of SSE-listed companies while publishing promotion videos on investor education and protection, themed reports on investor relations and investor education material on channels for investors' rights protection and relief, so as to guide investors toward establishing the concept of rational investment and promote the achievements in investor education and protection under the new securities law.
With the "World Investor Week 2020" activities, the SSE once again echoes exchanges worldwide by striking the gong after being invited for the first time last year to participate in the "Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy" event jointly initiated by IOSCO and the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE). This year, nearly 40 WFE member exchanges around the world will join the bell-ringing initiative. As the only WFE board member in Chinese mainland, the SSE has always attached great importance to investor education and protection and to serving international investors, and has been striving on international platforms to promote China's best practices in advocating rational investment, value investment and long-term investment. The SSE has deepened international cooperation and joined hands with global peers to reach consensus in the industry on investor education and protection as well as on serving investors across the world.
Investors are the foundation for the development of the capital market, and respecting, staying in awe of and protecting investors specifically reflects the capital market's practice of people-centered development. The SSE will adhere to the people-oriented approach, grasp regularity, highlight expertise, reflect the theme of the times, achieve inclusiveness, improve the satisfaction and sense of gain of investors, and strive to build a regulated, transparent, open, dynamic and resilient capital market.
